At ATR Media Studio, we often say: “The edit is only as good as the raw footage.” To get that cinematic, professional look for your highlight reels or tactical reviews, the recording process is crucial. Follow this expert guide to ensure your footage is ready for high-impact post-production:
The “God View” Positioning: Always aim to record from an elevated position. The halfway line is the gold standard. A higher angle provides better depth perception, making it easier for our editors to show tactical spacing and player movement.
Stability is Non-Negotiable: No matter how good your camera is, shaky footage is unwatchable. Always use a sturdy tripod. Smooth pans are essential for following the flow of the game without causing motion sickness for the viewer.
Don’t Over-Zoom: It’s tempting to zoom in on the ball carrier, but scouts need to see the context. Keep enough “white space” around the play so we can see the defensive line and support runners.
Mind the Weather: UK weather can be a challenge. Ensure you have a rain cover for your gear. Clear, dry lenses result in the crisp, high-definition digital files that our editing software loves.
Consistent Resolution: Record in at least 1080p at 60fps if possible. Higher frame rates allow us to create those beautiful, smooth slow-motion shots for your most dramatic moments.
